Growing up I was always told, don’t stay up too late. I never understood why.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been a night owl. Things just seem easier at night, time passes with a bit less severity.
Seems as though most of the people I associate with are better at night anyway, myself included. Maybe we’re all just worse during the day. When I think about it, staying up until 4:30 in the morning is perfectly logical when you consider my social ineptitude. That and my obsessive compulsive habit of tinkering about with things in solitude for hours on end lends itself well to a more nocturnal existence.
Still, there is something to be said for not associating too much with daywalkers, while functioning outside the normal rhythm of the rest of society. Perhaps it’s the routine of it that makes the day so unattractive and keeps me up nights. Maybe it’s the insomnia. Maybe I’m just an escapist.
The following is the product of such habits, nothing more.
